We encourage parents to review the lesson plan each day and talk with your child about it. Each room contains at least six activity centers. An activity center is an area where related age appropriate equipment and materials are accessible to the children. The materials in the center(s) align with the various theme created in each classroom.
In addition, children will be encouraged to play in all areas, such as Manipulative Center, Block’s Center, Books Center, Family & Dramatic Play Center, Language Arts Development Center, Science & Natural Center, Active Play, Music & Art Center. (Sensory Center-for sand/water play)
As teachers we are always learning much like the children we work with everyday. It is important to continuously improve and adapt on the manners and methods of our teaching. Not settling on what has worked in the past, as each class and child is different from the one before. All activities are planned around the theme of the week/unit. All themes are posted so you will be aware of what your child is covering each week. All activities align with the Illinois Early Learning Standards. Activities will be based on objectives, which meet specific learning standards-benchmarks. Age, developmental needs and special interest of each child will be taken in consideration when creating activities. Specific emphasis has been placed on the classroom environment/interest areas, in order to promote hands-on, child-initiated, open-ended exploration. Educators, routinely observe the children interacting with one other while engaged in the classroom. These observations become the basis for future lesson plans as well as any assessments that are completed and shared with parents.
